Navigating Inevitable Mistakes: Quaker Communities Working Towards an Anti-Racist Culture – April 11
Inviting all those interested in helping to improve our pastoral care within NYM with
attention to areas of marginalization. NYM’s Ministry and Nurture (M&N) and Anti-
Racism Working Group (ARWG) have scheduled the next training in Pastoral Care for
Saturday, April 11, 2026, 2-4 pm Central time via Zoom with Kat Griffith, to enhance our ability to
provide more sensitive and prepared pastoral care with attention to areas of
marginalization.
With grace and resilience, we will begin to recognize our individual patterns and
triggers, as we dive into our own various identities and how they affect the ways that we
show up on issues of race. We understand that mistakes are an inevitable part of
getting better acquainted with one’s own path in learning how to show up for others.
Woundings will occur, and this workshop will focus on how to prepare ourselves for
when they do. Time will be provided for Friends to bring their wisdom, skills, and
questions.
Please register by Thursday, April 9. We will have space for up to 30 attendees.
